Everest Base Camp
The superb trek to the Base Camp of Mount Everest is recommended as one of the important sites to be visited before one dies. The trekking trail to Everest is well-known because of the friendly Sherpa people, colorful festivals and the Buddhist monasteries. The region is known as Khumbu and has been bounded in the Sagarmatha National Park, the world heritage site. Sagarmatha is the Nepalese name of Mount Everest, the top of the world. Sherpas, the famous climbers are the dwellers of Khumbu region. Many expedition teams can be observed on this trail during April and May, heading higher with an aim to be on the top of the world.
Day 01: Arrive At Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu
After your arrival at the Tribhuwan international airport, a representative from Yeti will be waiting to greet you and pick you up from the airport and you will be dropped off at the hotel where you can freshen-up and relax. A welcome dinner will be hosted by Yeti in the evening where we can discuss further programs of the trip. Overnight stay in designated hotel.
Day 02: Fly To Lukla And Trek To Phakding (2652m/8699ft), Duration: 3 Hours
A beautiful morning flight to Lukla shall be taken on this day, the flight presenting you with some pretty sights of the landscape which changes gradually as you move from the capital to your destination; with the city dissolving back into the horizon and the land emerging as a vibrant shade of green with lush vegetation and foliage, and hills carving a rigged contrast to the blue sky. Then, we will begin our trek with an easy walk passing through the village of Chaurikharka and walk down towards Dudh Koshi Ghat lying at the altitude of 2,530m. Trekking along the shore of Dudh Koshi River, we will reach Phakding, where we shall stay overnight at the Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 03: Phakding To Namche Bazaar (3440m/11283ft), Duration: 6 Hours
We will head off from Phakding on this day, and pass through splendid forests of rhododendron, the wood blossoming rich with magnolia and aligned with fir trees. The area will be full of blooming rhododendron flowers during spring time. We will also pass through Jorsale (2,805m) and pass by the junction of Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi. We will be climbing for some time and will get a first glimpse of Everest if the weather is clear and the clouds part way. Ascending further, we will reach Namche Bazaar, a flourishing Sherpa village and an administrative hub of the Khumbu region. We shall then stay overnight at a guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 04: Acclimatization At Namche Bazar To Everest View Hotel To Namche
At Namche Bazaar, we will rest to acclimatize and avoid altitude sickness. It is also recommended to experience a short hike on this day to help adjust our body to the raised elevation. We will therefore, climb to Everest View Hotel which presents magnificent views of Mount Everest, Mount Ama Dablam and more of the surrounding peaks. We will also walk to the Khunde and Khumjung villages located beneath Khumbila, the rock-strewn mountain which is considered holy by all Sherpa people. In Khunde, we can make a trip to the Edmund Hillary hospital, as well as visit the monastery in Khumjung. We will then trek back to Namche. Day 05: Namche To Tengboche (3860m/12660ft), Duration: 5 Hours
We will move ahead from Namche Bazaar and continue walking all along the rushing glacial waters of the Dudh Koshi. On the way to Sanasa, we will pass by ethereal rhododendron forests. You may also see faunas like the multi-colored pheasants, musk deer, and the Himalayan Thar. From Sanasa, we will walk on a vertical way up- to get to the famous Tengboche monastery. Tengboche is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region which presents the magnificent peak views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam and The Thamserku. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 06: Tengboche To Dingboche (4410m/14464ft), Duration: 5 Hours
On this day, we will trek for around 5 hours to get to Dingboche. Our trek begins with an adjacent route with the rhododendron forest from Tengboche to Debuche. We will also traverse over the raging Imja River through a suspension bridge. We will then pass by Pangboche village, the biggest village occupied by Sherpa people in the region. Here we can walk to Pangboche monastery, one of an ancient monastery. We will have quite a challenging walk in the afternoon as the scenery turns dry and deserted before reaching Dingboche. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 07: Dingboche – Nagerjun (5100m/16728ft) And Return To Dingboche, Duration: 6 Hours
We will have another acclimatization day in Dingboche on this day. To get accustomed to the high altitude, we will also have a short hike to Nagerjun set at the height of 5100m just above Dingboche. We will actually have a quite a demanding day as the path is steeper. It takes around 5 hours to reach Nagerjun where the stunning views of the Lobuche East (6119m), Kangtega (6685m), the Toboche Peak (6367m), Lobuche West (6145m), the Thamserku (6608m) and Mount Ama Dablam (6856m) will mesmerize us. Then, we will return to Dingboche. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 08: Dingboche To Lobuche (4910m/16105ft), Duration: 5 Hours
Leaving behind Dingboche, we will climb steeply up to Lobuche passing a chorten. We will also pass by Dugla, located at the tip of the Khumbu Glacier. With a vertical and small climb up, we will stroll to Chukpo Lari and see memorials put up in tribute to those who lost their lives in the Khumbu region. Also, the stunning vista of the huge mountains cannot be ignored. With a trouble-free walk, we will finally reach Lobuche (4,910m). Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 09: Lobuche – Gorakshep – Everest Base Camp (5364m/17594ft) – Gorakshep (5181m/16994ft), Duration: 8 Hours
Departing from Lobuche, on this day we will walk towards Gorakshep from Lobuche. This is an important day of the trek as we will be reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the foot of Mt. Everest, the views of Everest, Mahalangur, Khumbutse, Lingtren, Mt. Pumori, and Mt. Nuptse will enthrall us. We will also walk further up to the top, passing the gush of Changri Glacier to get the sight of Kala Patthar, which translates to “Black Rock” in Nepali. Walking further ahead, we will reach the Everest Base Camp where we shall have an amazing time drowning ourselves in the majestics of Sagarmatha! Then, we will return to Gorakshep. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 10: Gorakshep – Kala Pathar (5545m/18188ft) – Gorakshep – Pheriche (4210m/13809ft) Duration: 7 Hours
We will walk ahead from Gorakshep to Kala Pathar early in the morning to witness the magnificent view of the sunrise over Mt. Everest. Additionally, the spectacular views of Changtse, Nuptse, Lhotse and the others will be completely alluring. At Kala Patthar as well, you will spend some rewarding time that will remain in your memories forever. Then, we will walk down to Gorakshep, from where we will trek further to Pheriche. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 11: Pheriche To Namche (3440m/11283ft), Duration: 7 Hours
On this day, we will walk back to Namche Bazaar which takes around 7 hours. We will pass several ups and downs of the terrain on the way and also pass by hillsides brimming with juniper and rhododendron trees. Traversing over Dudh Koshi River by a bridge, we will descend to an area where we may come across the chance to sight wild life like pheasants, mountains goats, and many others. The path finally reaches Sanasa, where amazing views of the Ama Dablam, Nuptse and Thamserku mountains will appear. Passing through rugged and twisty paths and wooded areas, we will reach Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 12: Namche To Lukla (2800m/9184ft), Duration: 7 Hours
From Namche, we will walk downhill to travel along the Dudh Koshi River once again. Then, we will stroll to Monjo where we need to accomplish the formalities at the check post of the Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo. Subsequently, we will walk towards Phakding and continue walking to Lukla. In Lukla, you can just relax and remember the awesome memories of the trekking. Overnight at Guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Day 13: Flight From Lukla To Kathmandu
With a short and scenic flight, we will return back from Lukla to Kathmandu. You will be transferred to the hotel upon landing at Tribhuwan International Airport. Overnight at hotel, breakfast included.
